I have returned from my social media absence (!) and am excited to share what I found. To my surprise I no longer desire to spend hours on Facebook or Instagram–that’s huge. A couple of years ago I would have never dreamed of doing such a thing.
- I can now identify when I’m posting for a reason vs. posting to collect likes. The latter doesn’t plague me as much as it did before my hiatus. I want to release good work, whether it receives 0 likes or 152.
- This break has allowed me to refocus on photography. I want to make an impact on the world, and I can’t do that if I’m posting mindlessly.
- I feel free! Prior to this break I felt obligated to share something groundbreaking every two hours. It led to a decent amount of unnecessary stress, and I’d prefer to do without.
I am slowly reintegrating myself back into each social media platform, but I certainly don’t see myself as active. Adieu! 🙂
